Public Transport Leadership Expanded with Kathrin Horn

As of June 1, 2026, Katrin Horn has assumed the role of Deputy Head of the Public Transport Business Unit at Glue. This step broadens the unit’s organisational structure and strengthens continuity in customer support. The reason behind this change is the increasing political engagement of Business Unit Head Roland Loser. For our customers, this means stability during a period of growing complexity in the Swiss public transport sector.

Digitalisation in public transport continues to accelerate. New sales channels, on-demand services, national data standards and increasing integration requirements are making projects more demanding from both a technical and organisational perspective. You can find an overview of our Public Transport solutions here: glue-mobility.ch. It is within this dynamic environment that Katrin Horn is now strengthening the leadership team of the Public Transport Business Unit.

Who is Katrin Horn?

Katrin Horn has been working at Glue for the past three and a half years as a Senior Software Engineer and Project Manager. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Bern. During this time, she has supported numerous customer projects in the Swiss public transport sector. Particularly noteworthy is her contribution to the performance optimisation of the Journey Planner. She has also been heavily involved in the further development of the Case Manager and has supported customers in both German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland, aided by her multilingual background.

In her new role, she will take on additional responsibilities within the Business Unit, including optimising development processes, serving as Product Owner for the Case Manager, managing proposal activities and actively shaping future product and customer development.

In Conversation with Katrin Horn

“What does this step mean to you personally?”

Katrin Horn: After three and a half years in software development, taking on more responsibility feels like a natural next step for me. I want to contribute not only to building solutions, but also to shaping how we develop them and how we work together as a team. What matters most to me is ensuring that our customers can continue to rely on stability and close support.

“Which developments are currently shaping Swiss public transport the most?”

Katrin Horn: We are currently seeing significant momentum across several areas at once. On-demand services, dynamic pricing and national initiatives such as MODI and NADIM are transforming the industry. At the same time, new nationwide standards for identities and data flows are emerging, such as Swiss Line ID and Swiss Journey ID. For many transport operators, this means greater connectivity, but also significantly more complexity in technical implementation.

“Where do customers face the biggest challenges?”

Katrin Horn: Many customers have very specific ideas or requirements, but the technical implementation is often more complex than expected. Uncertainty can arise quickly, particularly around interfaces, webshop integrations or new national standards. Our role is to reduce that complexity. Drawing on experience from many similar projects, we help customers build solutions in a structured and pragmatic way.

“What role does collaboration between transport operators play?”

Katrin Horn: Collaboration is a key success factor. In public transport, many organisations face similar requirements at the same time, which makes it important not to work in isolation. Through our shared platform approach, transport operators can benefit from one another. We coordinate collaboration, promote consistent standards and ensure that developments do not need to be solved multiple times. This leads to higher quality and less effort for everyone involved.

“Outside of Glue, you serve as President of the Bern Curling Championship. What do you bring from that role into your professional life?”

Katrin Horn: Quite a lot, actually. Both curling and professional life are about teamwork, clear communication and timing. As President of the Bern Curling Championship, I have learned how to take responsibility and coordinate different interests. My leadership style is therefore highly collaborative. I work in a structured and solution-oriented way and strongly believe that the best results are achieved when people work together towards a common goal.

Outlook: With Katrin Horn, the Public Transport Business Unit gains a Deputy Head who combines technical expertise, project experience and a strong customer focus. The entire Glue team congratulates her on her new role and looks forward to continuing the collaboration in an industry that is currently undergoing significant change.
