“Data sovereignty does not mean operating everything yourself – it means retaining control over your data, architecture and future development at all times.”
Artificial intelligence, cloud computing and data-driven business models are rapidly transforming the digital landscape. At the same time, the requirements for data protection, compliance and long-term control over data and digital infrastructures are increasing. Geopolitical developments, regulatory requirements and new dependencies on global technology platforms are making Data Sovereignty a strategic issue for public authorities and businesses.
But what does Data Sovereignty mean in practice? Is it enough to store data in Switzerland, or does it require modern data architectures that ensure openness, security, interoperability and technological independence over the long term?
In this MINT’Talk, we will use practical examples to demonstrate how future-proof data platforms can be built without compromising innovation and flexibility. The focus will be on open source, open standards, hybrid operating models and the question of how organisations can retain control over their data and systems in the future.
Case Study from the Swiss Federal Administration – Implementing an Open Source Data Excellence Platform Based on a real project from the Swiss Federal Administration, the speakers will present the implementation of an open-source-based Data Excellence Platform for a Swiss federal authority. Participants will gain insights into architectural decisions, data governance, operating concepts and security aspects while learning about the key experiences and lessons learned from the practical implementation.
What to Expect
• Data Sovereignty in the context of cloud, AI and compliance
• Open source and open standards as the foundation of future-proof data platforms
• Avoiding vendor lock-in and strengthening technological independence
• Governance, security and compliance in modern data architectures
• Case study from the Swiss Federal Administration with architectural and implementation insights
