What do outer space and modern IT infrastructures have in common? You need real experts to navigate them. We spoke with Antonio Musardo, Senior Cloud & System Engineer at Glue AG, about his latest achievement and the future of the cloud.
“The Kubestronaut certification is an important milestone for me. It shows that I can continue to support our customers with their cloud projects at a high technical level,” explains Antonio Musardo. This award is a natural step in his more than ten-year career at Glue and perfectly combines his long-standing experience with the latest cloud-native know-how.
What is a “Kubestronaut”?
The title is awarded by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and is considered an exclusive distinction in the cloud-native world. It is only granted once all five major Kubernetes certifications (KCNA, KCSA, CKA, CKAD and CKS) have been successfully completed.
In Switzerland, this title is still rare – Antonio is one of only about 81 certified Kubestronauts. It reflects deep expertise in the architecture, development and security of cloud-native systems.
Expertise that makes the difference
Antonio explains how this knowledge will benefit our future customer projects. It forms the foundation for scalable, secure and efficient cloud solutions. Four key pillars are at the center:
- Maximum security: “Especially in Switzerland, data protection and security are essential. We build clusters that are hardened from the ground up according to the latest security standards.”
- Scalability & efficiency: Thanks to Kubernetes, applications automatically scale with demand – without downtime.
- Cost efficiency through optimal utilization: A well-orchestrated system uses server resources much more efficiently. “In the end, this simply saves money in infrastructure operations,” emphasizes Antonio.
- Faster releases (CI/CD): Intelligent automation ensures that new features move from development to production faster and more securely.
Where experience meets innovation
For Antonio, the certification is the logical continuation of his journey at Glue. He combines his many years of system engineering experience with the latest cloud-native approaches. The goal always remains the same: stable, future-proof systems that our customers can rely on in the long term.
And the journey continues: his next goal is the “Golden Kubestronaut” – a title held by only a very small number of experts worldwide.
At the end of the conversation, he reveals with a wink one personal motivation for taking so many exams: “To be honest, I’m mainly doing it because I really want the exclusive Kubestronaut jacket! ;)”
