Following a successful testing phase, OpenParlData is officially live. The platform is free and open to everyone: it bundles parliamentary data from the federal government, all 26 cantons, and over 50 cities, making it accessible to citizens, researchers, media, and developers.
OpenParlData is a data infrastructure – the foundation for analyses, visualizations, and Civic Tech projects. Glue AG participated in the project together with opendata.ch and the Mercator Foundation Switzerland.
Web Interface – A Comprehensive View of Parliamentary Data
The platform offers an intuitive web interface:
- Intelligent filters and search functions: Analyses by parliament, commission, session, or vote.
- Views by: Business items, persons, parliamentary votes, sessions, or vested interests.
- Person and committee analysis: Who sits on which commissions with which vested interests?
- Topic monitoring: Search specifically for current motions on your favorite topics.

Data with Rough Edges – A Collaborative Process
OpenParlData is a premiere for Switzerland. The daily, automated harmonization (ETL) of data from the federal government, 26 cantons, and over 50 cities is complex. We are consciously launching with a version that already offers enormous value but still leaves room for optimization. We invite the community and the parliaments themselves to help us close data gaps and steadily improve quality.
REST API – Directly into Your Own Projects
- JSON format and OpenAPI 3.0: Easy integration into modern web applications.
- Daily updates: Access to the latest parliamentary data.
- Open Source: Code, import scripts, and documentation freely available.
Join, Shape, Innovate: The OpenParlData Community
OpenParlData is more than just a data platform – it is a call to actively help shape the political data landscape in Switzerland. OpenParlData provides everyone with open access to unified data to develop their own solutions.
- Development of new visualizations and analysis tools.
- Creation of interactive applications for a better understanding of politics.
- Integration of feedback to deepen insights.
The combination of unified data from Swiss parliaments, a powerful API, and a simple web interface opens a new era in the Swiss political data landscape.
